I’ve been reflecting lately on how I should be approaching adult relationships: from platonic to romantic, and everything in-between.
And each time, you learn something about yourself and what sort of connections you are searching for. Some of them stay, and some of them go.
The people that you connect with, come into your life for a reason. Sometimes to create shared memories, affirm the path you took in life, or even challenge your preconceived notions of what forming a connection or relationship really means and the blurred lines that you set yourself. In that sense, as you carry on the connection by becoming more connected with yourself, the connection becomes unfleeting, and remains as a part of your memoriies.
With this reflection, I realised that my posts on Building Memorii always referred to some connection with self, people, place, or time. I was introduced to a similar concept of Eight Million Gods (八百万の神) while watching Hikari’s Rental Family, the Shinto belief that there is ‘God’ in all things, everywhere, and within all of us; we have a shared connection with our world. We leave behind an imprint on someone’s life when we choose to connect with them.
Our approach to adult relationships should be human, as we are all too human. I’m still on my journey of soul searching, which, frankly, never ends, but I’m enjoying the discovery of tidbits along the way, learning to remain flexible in life.
